Musica Rustica
Light vocal music from Renaissance Italy
In this programme we present some of the lighter forms of vocal music that was cultivated alongside the madrigal in 16th century Italy, such as some lively and irreverent canzoni villanesche alla napoletana by composers such as Da Nola, Azzaiolo,Willaert and Di Lasso, and some frottoleby Tromboncino and Cara. We perform this programme with four singers, various plucked strings, viola da gamba and percussion.
